Jet Ski / Wave Runner Rentals
Aruba's aquatic playground is even more exciting aboard a wave runner or Jet Ski. Come with your family or friends and have a great time on one of the most famous beach toys on the island.
Propelled by a jet of water, jet skiing is a safe and fun activity for the entire family. Some models seat three (two adults and a child) or more commonly, just two. Aruba is the perfect place to give a jetski a whirl! Warm, calm water in many areas, sunny skies, and improved equipment combine for safe, fun skiing.
Jet skis can travel up to 40 miles per hour (life jackets are required), so create a wake, send the sea spray flying, and get way wet! It's just like riding a bike...you'll learn in no time!!
You can rent them anywhere (available at most hotel watersport centers and watersports operators) but go to the beaches south of the low rise hotels. That's the calmest of waters and jetski traffic is very low (no boats there either), so you can cruise without worries.
16 is the minimum age to operate a jet ski. Rentals are typically for a half hour or an hour at a time.
Parasailing
Feel the thrill and see the beauty while towering high above the Caribbean sea. The colorful parasail sparkles overhead while you enjoy a bird's-eye view in a calm and peaceful world. The ride is a wonderful and unforgettable experience, so fly the parasail, an aerial adventure for the whole family. You can ascend 180m (591 ft.) above the sea in a boat-towed parachute that reels you out and back in.
Although flight time is only 10-15 minutes, the exhilaration lasts all day. Expect to pay about $50 for a single-seater, $70 for a parachute built for two. Some operators restrict flights to persons over 6 years of age weighing between 41 and 109 kilograms (90-240 lb.). If underweight, an option is to pair up. Bring a waterproof camera.
Make arrangements with one of the watersports centers along Palm Beach or by calling Caribbean Parasail (tel. 297/586-0505), Island Watersports (tel. 297/593-5436), Pelican Adventures (tel. 297/587-2302; www.pelican-aruba.com), or Red Sail Sports (tel. 877-RED-SAIL in the U.S. and Canada, or 297/586-1603 in Aruba; www.redsail.com).
Banana Boats
A ride on a banana boat is a fun way of enjoying Aruba's beautiful beaches. So, if you love horseback riding, well, you'll love this fun-filled way to ride the waves of Aruba. Come with your family or friends and have a great time on one of the most famous beach toys of the island. And please don't forget to bring your sun block. Make arrangements with one of the watersports centers along Palm Beach.
